Climate & Equitable Jobs Act (CEJA)
Funder: Illinois Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity (DCEO)
This program is funded by the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO), which is charged with administering the workforce and economic development programs outlined in the Climate and Equitable Jobs Act (CEJA). CEJA (P.A. 102-0662) was signed into law by Governor Pritzker on September 15, 2021, and represents one of the most comprehensive clean energy investments in Illinois history.
Through CEJA, DCEO supports statewide clean energy workforce training programs designed to prepare Illinois workers for careers in renewable energy, expand electric vehicle use, and ensure that communities — especially those historically burdened by pollution and economic disinvestment — benefit from the clean energy transition. CEJA programs prioritize Illinoisans who live in communities that have historically faced economic barriers and environmental damage, with the goal of building a diverse workforce in the clean energy industry.
